Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase staring Sophia Lillis will hit theaters on March 15 this year. Produced by Ellen DeGeneres, the movie is based on the Nancy Drew book of the same name, first published in 1930 and then revised in 1959. The revised version is currently in print and it appears that this movie is based on that version. The book was originally written by ghostwriter Mildred Wirt Benson and I'm currently writing a biography about her.
Originally in 1939, Warner Brothers released a fourth 1930s movie with the same name, though this appears to be quite different in style from that movie. How well this new movie follows the book and stays true to the characters in the book is a mystery that you can solve when you see it in theaters in March! I've not seen the script, so I can't comment on that, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The synopsis:
A bit of an outsider struggling to fit into her new surroundings, Nancy and her pals set out to solve the mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community.
Here's some screen captures from the just released trailer showing Nancy sleuthing around town trying to solve the mystery.
