I purchased this Nancy Drew book, The Bungalow Mystery, at eBay which came with a letter from "Carolyn Keene" a.k.a. Harriet Stratemeyer Adams (one of eight ghostwriters for the classic hardcover Nancy Drew series) and a signed photo sent to the child to put in the book. I love finding historical behind-the scenes finds like this. I've seen this photo at the NYPL in the Stratemeyer Syndicate archives, several copies--so apparently they were kept on file to send out to media and those writing letters like this.
