Nancy Drew's 85th Spotlight #11

Harriet Stratemeyer Adams, daughter of Edward Stratemeyer, along with her sister Edna, carried on the Stratemeyer Syndicate when their father Edward died just about two weeks after the Nancy Drew series debuted in 1930. From 1930, Harriet ran the family business for over 50 years until she passed away in 1982. Her family's dedication to children's series books--and her fondness for Nancy Drew--guided her all those years as she managed the Syndicate, created new series and eventually wrote quite a few of the classic Nancy Drew books. Read an article I wrote about Harriet for the 75th anniversary of Nancy Drew in 2005 and learn more about her at Nancy Drew Sleuth.com.

If lost, please return to GRIFFIN - and then whack him over the head a few times with this book for writing on and defacing the cover ;-)

Nancy Drew's 85th Spotlight #9

Nancy Drew Sleuths - the only current officially licensed Nancy Drew Fan Club - has been sleuthin' around since 2000, when the club was founded. Originally, a discussion group online, NDS grew into an organization with annual conventions, officially licensed merchandise, a bi-monthly zine The Sleuth, and Nancy Drew Book Clubs.

To clue you in, our purpose is to celebrate the enduring legacy of Nancy Drew. We achieve this in part by holding annual Nancy Drew Convention(s) in which fans can follow in Nancy Drew's footsteps in real life locations where some of the books have been set, through our donations to libraries of Nancy Drew books for today's generation to discover Nancy Drew mysteries and be inspired and thrilled as many of us were as kids, and through book clubs, online discussion and social media.

If you would like to join our group, visit our website for more clues...

To attend one of our Nancy Drew conventions or see where we've sleuthed before, visit our Nancy Drew Convention page. Find us at Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest.

Nancy Drew's 85th Spotlight #8

Mary Mason

Nancy Drew Villains: Mary Mason is one cold crook! Described as harsh and bold, she takes comfort in Nancy’s displeasure, leaving her bound and gagged on a sinking ship near the end of The Mystery at Lilac Inn. In the revision, she’s Gay Moreau. Her major complaint about Nancy: She always sticks her nose into business that doesn’t concern her.
