Nancy Drew Antiques Roadshow Insider Article

Check out the current February 2011 issue of Antiques Roadshow Insider which features an article on Nancy Drew and collector Laurie A. Clarke as well as photos of Mildred Wirt Benson, who Laurie represented back in the 1990s in negotiations with publisher Simon & Schuster in regard to the 1993 Nancy Drew Conference and an agreement to recognize Benson as having been Carolyn Keene.

I provided some commentary for the article and a graphic for the original Tandy art for The Secret of the Old Clock.

Nancy Drew Mobile Mysteries: Shadow Ranch

Her Interactive has officially launched their new iPad game, Nancy Drew Mobile Mysteries: Shadow Ranch. Anyone with an iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone can play the game.

The greatest thing about this game is the interactive nature of it--it's not a book and it's not a game, it's a hybrid of both that allows you to read along with the story and interact and solve the mystery.

CEO of Her Interactive, Megan Gaiser, states "You're no longer just reading a Nancy Drew mystery; you're fully engaged and influencing how the mystery unfolds as you play the story. The iPhone, iPod touch and iPad provide the ideal platforms for this new game play experience with their elegant, Multi-Touch interfaces, gorgeous graphics and on-the-go portability."

Get the game at the iTunes Store!

Check out some screen captures:

Want to bring Shadow Ranch alive in person? Join the Nancy Drew Sleuths for their March 2012 Sleuth Con in Phoenix, AZ where they'll be focusing on the classic Nancy Drew tale as part of their series book theme. Fans will follow in Nancy Drew's footsteps to solve a few mysteries!

ANOTHER First Printing Nancy Drew Old Clock?

Would you believe another first printing of The Secret of the Old Clock recently showed up at eBay? On the heels of 2 other first printings sold in the last few months. Very. Unusual.

It's The Clever Case of the Newly Discovered Cache of First Printings! Mostly due to the fact that either the first generation now in their late 80s/early 90s is passing away or getting rid of possessions or the 2nd generation now around their late 60s to 70s is downsizing. This should give a lot of collectors hope that more will turn up. It also may decrease the value a bit. They used to sell for at least $10,000.00 at auction. The most recent two sold for just a bit over $7000.00. This one above just sold for only $4494.00.

But, it did have a major flaw--the seller's son tore the front panel of the dust jacket completely away from the spine. HYPERS! Talk about costing your mom thousands of dollars. That's got to be worth at least a serious grounding ;-) Ha. Ha.

A book like this with a clean tear will look fine in a Mylar dust jacket protector and will look almost complete. But the tear really devalues the dust jacket.

Nancy Drew Decoder Puzzle

Nancy Drew Decoder Puzzle by Poof-Slinky

Originally developed by Cadaco which was acquired by Poof-Slinky last year, the Nancy Drew Decoder Puzzle is now ready for shipping! It is based on the first Nancy Drew: Girl Detective series book #1, Without a Trace.

It's got 250 pieces and then you have a decoder and decoder booklet to work to solve the mystery. It came out too late last year to get into stores, but hopefully you will start to see them more this year. It will depend on how sales of this puzzle do, as to whether they produce another game. I did suggest they create a puzzle based on a classic Nancy Drew book as those kinds of products tend to do better overall. Lend your support and maybe we'll see more of these!

I was given this list of stores to contact about getting the game:
